(Q & A with Jill)

I love my job! Full service Interior Design. I start with the blueprint—finish with the last towel—and do everything in between. I design both residential and commercial — however, my specialty is residential.

What Sets You Apart
I have been told that my interest in people and my ability to communicate on both sides of the design fence—working well with the client and the contractor—is beneficial to getting the job done with less stress. I have also been told that my attention to detail sets me apart from others in my field. I treat each project as carefully as though it were my own.

Best Advice Received
“Never close a door, even when a project is completed.”

Although I admire many people, it’s those who show courage while going through adversity that truly inspire me.

Challenges Faced
We’re all facing economic challenges, but hiring a designer — a trained eye—adds value and avoids costly mistakes, whether you’re choosing a color-scheme, purchasing furniture or building your dream castle.

Setting the Standard
In order to work well with a client, it is important to build trust. For an Interior Designer, it takes knowledge, honesty and creativity. When you work in a family’s home, you become familiar with them and the way they live. You have to earn their trust—and never abuse it!

This quote spoke to me: “That which we elect to surround ourselves with becomes the museum of our soul and the archive of our experiences.” – THOMAS JEFFERSON

Charitable Work
We support many charities, but our focus has been on research for the cure of Melanoma. Two charities, “Aim at Melanoma” and “Aim for a Cure,” can both be found online. “Aim for a Cure,” was set up in memory of our son who died from melanoma in 2006.

Honors / Awards
As a registered Interior Designer, I belong to The Texas Association of Interior Designers, the Colleyville and Southlake Chamber’s of Commerce and the Forth Worth Builder’s Association. My designs have won awards in the Kaleidoscope of Homes. They’ve also been seen in the Colleyville and Southlake Christmas home tours and Street of Dreams. I’ve had the privilege of judging home and award programs around the country. I was invited to write features for Texas Builder and Kaleidoscope of Homes magazines. One of my favorite projects was featured in Dallas Home Design.
